Somaiah is a Mechanical Engineer by training and has more than 30 years of professional experience. He did PGDM in Operation specialization from ISB Hyderabad.  He started his career in Hindustan Unilever Ltd as a trainee and worked in FMCG units across India and abroad for more than two decades. His last stint had been with Dr. Reddy’s before he started his consultancy activities in 2022. He was instrumental in introducing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and  Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies in two pharma companies, Jubilant Generics Limited, Mysore and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Hyderabad. He has rich practical experience working across various business excellence functions such as Process & Operational Excellence, Quality Management, Industrial Safety, Training & Implementing of TPM and Lean Manufacturing.

He has numerous international certifications, “TPM instructor from JIPM institute, Japan”, “Black Belt”, “Lean Management” from Frost and Sullivan and “DuPont Safety Services”. He has trained more than 7000 employees across organizations in various areas of Business Excellence. He has conducted soft skill training in various industries he was associated with, by implementing 5’S.TPM & Lean

operations with minimum investments, enhanced productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale of the employees. 

 

He and his team could achieve savings of more than Rs. 900 million in various operational excellence projects he was associated with, in his career. He played a key role in making the organizations he had worked with, receive various prestigious awards such as JIPM Excellence and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) awards. He was an office bearer in CII Mysore and was the convener for TQM & TPM activities for two terms and is a QCFI – Life member
