Dr.G.Sekaran is a world class, environmental management scientist involved in the development of novel technologies for the management of wastewater, sewage, and industrial effluents. He worked as a Chief scientist & Cluster Chairman of the Environmental technology Division, CSIR-CLRI. He was an honorary Professor of Anna University in the faculty of Leather Technology and also a Professor of ACSIR in the Faculty of Environmental Science and Engineering. Presently, he is an Adjunct Professor at SRM IST University, Chennai.

He has been a highly successful Environmental consultant to Leather, Textile, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Slaughterhouse, Automobile industries, and Domestic sectors. He has credit for having provided cleaner environmental management in the Leather sector, Chemical sector, and Construction material manufacturing industrial sector.

He focuses mainly on research domain confined to CATALYSIS applied to oxidation of Bio- refractory organics and inorganics in wastewater and in gaseous stream using carbon based Heavy metal doped catalysts.

Dr.G.Sekaran is the inventor of the technologies entitled “Chemo Autotrophic Activated Carbon Oxidation (CAACO)”, Fenton Activated Carbon Catalytic Oxidation (FACCO) , Fluidised Immobilised Carbon Cataytic  Oxidation (FICCO) , Electro Catalytic Oxidation (ECO) , Salt Removal from Organic & Inorganic Mixture (SRIOM) Process and Enzyme Immobilised Carbon Oxidation (ENICO) . The above-mentioned technologies have been well received by leather, textile, chemical, pharmaceutical industries in India and in abroad for the degradation of bio-degradable and non bio-degradable organics in wastewater.

He is the recipient of many prestigious state and central government awards for eminence in Environmental Science and Engineering. He has more than two hundred and twenty publications and twenty six patents to his credit.  Most of his patented technologies have been commercialized in India as well as overseas countries such as  Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, West Africa (GHANA), Namibia and Vietnam.
